How much should I pay for a website?

Article Type:
Advice

Knowing how much your website is going to cost can be quite confusing. Quite often people receive faxes from companies claiming to be able to build you a website or get you to the top of a Google listing for a few hundred pounds. But unfortunately, like most things in life, you get what you pay for.

I often tell clients that building a website is not too dissimilar to building a house.

Decisions when building a house may be:

  • How many bedrooms?
  • How may bathrooms?
  • Do I want expensive fittings?
  • Do I want to be able to build an extension in future?
  • Where shall I build it?

Similarly, decisions when building a website may be:

  • How many pages do I want?
  • Do I want to be able to add pages myself for news articles or job opportunities?
  • Do I want people to be able to search my site?
  • How are people going to find my site?
  • Do I want people to be able to buy my products online?
  • Do I want to use flash animation to really wow my customers?

And the list of choices goes on. It might be better to think how is a website going to help your business and then how much you're willing to pay for that. Then Webcoda will be able to tailor a site to suit your budget.

To give you a starting point our most basic websites start at £800. All our sites are original designs and built with standards compliance and search engine optimisation in mind.
